Meta Quest 2 review

 Meta Quest 2 review

The Oculus Quest 2 is now known as the Meta Quest 2, but it remains a high point in all-in-one virtual reality headsets. The Quest 2 allows you to play virtual reality games without requiring a gaming PC, laptop, or even a smartphone.

The Quest 2 has increased in price by $100, but it offers a number of improvements over the Oculus Quest that may justify the price increase; keep in mind, it wasn't as expensive at launch.

At the same time, the Quest 2 has received a number of updates and upgrades to make it an even better VR headset than before, and the best VR headset available. So continue reading our complete Quest 2 review.

Meta Quest 2 : Design

In terms of design, the Meta Quest 2 is quite appealing for a virtual reality headset. Normally bulky googles have been replaced with a light and comfortable headset that is no less than 10% lighter than its predecessor. The headset's simple strap and four camera sensors give it a simple and clean aesthetic, which means it looks good both sitting on a desk and mounted on one's head. The Quest 2's light gray color is also pleasing to the eye.

The headset's sparse, well-placed button and port layout contributes to its seamless design. A power button is located on the right side of the headset, a volume rocker is located on the right underside, and a USB-C port and headphone jack are located on the left for charging and audio. The Meta Quest 2's lenses can be adjusted with three different viewing settings by pinching or spreading them out manually right inside the headset, eliminating the need for the switch that sat at the bottom of the original Quest.

Even after spending more than an hour in VR, the Meta Quest 2 felt lightweight and comfortable at 7.5 x 4 x 5.2 inches and 1.1 pounds. A generous amount of foam padding made it easy to forget I was wearing a hunk of plastic strapped to my face, and the headset's adjustable elastic bands allowed me to find the perfect fit for my head.

Meta Quest 2:  Touch Pro Controllers

The Touch Pro controllers are the most recent iteration of the well-known Meta Quest Touch controllers. Touch Pro controllers have a small footprint, realistic sensations, and new levels of interaction. Touch Pro controllers also improve on the fine motor controls of previous touch controllers by making them more intuitive and adding new features such as stylus tips.

Your Meta Quest Touch Pro controllers have LED lights on the outside edge of each controller to help you understand the charge level, pairing, update status, and other features.

Is there any Wi-Fi troubleshooting for Meta Quest Touch Pro Controllers

A Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS) channel is set up by some Wi-Fi routers. DFS channels may cause slower download speeds and affect applications that use your Wi-Fi network, such as Air Link, when using Meta Quest Touch Pro Controllers with your Meta Quest 2 headset.

Please refer to the specific hardware guide of your router's manufacturer to check and change your wireless router channels. You can also look at this Wikipedia list of wireless channel numbers to see if your router is using a DFS channel.

Meta Quest 2 : Performances

The Meta Quest 2 is now faster thanks to a performance boost in the headset's most recent update. Meta increased the maximum frequency from 490 MHz to 525 MHz, providing up to 7% more performance to all Quest 2 headsets.

"There is no need for integration or coding to take advantage of this improvement — the dynamic clocking system will automatically raise the frequency as it sensors detect that your app would benefit from it," Meta wrote. To get the extra speed, simply perform a doff/don (take it off and put it back on) or a sleep cycle by pressing the power button twice.

Meta Quest 2 : Gaming

The Oculus Quest Store has amassed an impressively strong lineup of games that range from fresh picks of existing AAA franchises to exciting indie titles that make full use of Meta Quest 2's VR capabilities.

In a time when it is more challenging than ever to get together in person, the Quest 2 excels as a multiplayer system, enabling you to engage in virtual worlds with pals.

Meta Quest 2: Apps

The Meta Quest 2 is much more than just a game console; it has a wide range of productivity and entertainment apps that let you view films and work creatively with others.

Meta Quest 2: Audio

Background Audio Playback: First and foremost, a much-requested feature for all of you multi-taskers and music fans: Background Audio Playback. If you like to work with music on or listen to a podcast while playing a solo round of Walkabout Mini Golf, Meta Quest Pro now allows you to do so.

Meta Quest 2: Battery life

The battery life on the Meta Quest 2 is rated at 2 to 3 hours: 2 if you're mostly playing games and around 3 if you're mostly watching videos. This was mostly in line with my testing, as I only had to plug the Quest 2 in every few days while using it in small chunks.
