How to Find and Maintain Weight Loss Motivation

Motivation for Weight Loss How to Get and Keep It!

Everyone who has ever tried to lose weight understands that the most difficult issue is motivation - where do we find it, how do we keep it up, and what do we do when it slips!

To successfully lose weight, you must find your own motivation. More importantly, you must remain motivated even when things are difficult! Read through the following tips and tricks, as well as other resources, to help you find and keep your motivation.

  •  Determine your goals and a timetable for achieving them. Make a complete commitment to them.

  •  Make it official! Scribble down as much information as possible about why you need to lose weight, how much you plan to lose, when and how. The more you write down, the better. Carry a notebook with you and use it to jot down thoughts and ideas, recipes, and quotes - whatever inspires and motivates you.

  • Tell a friend or family member about your plan and ask them to assist you in sticking to it.

  • Keep in mind that you're losing weight and getting healthier "one day at a time." You can do anything for one day!

  • Don't dwell on the junk you're eliminating from your diet. Instead, rejoice in the healthy foods you are consuming.

  • Create a stack of cards with bullet points for your main motivational issues. Display the cards in places where you will see them frequently, such as on your bathroom mirror, in your purse, or in your car.

  • Make a "mantra" for yourself to repeat when things get tough. "I put in a lot of effort to improve my health, appearance, and overall well-being." For example. In every way, I'm getting stronger."

  • Consider asking friends and family for sponsorship for a good cause. Perhaps you could raise funds for hungry children while you work on your own eating habits?

  • Create a file or scrapbook of articles, recipes, and other interesting tidbits you come across.

  • Begin a new file with fashion and wardrobe ideas. Plan what you'll need to buy if you go down a size or two!

  • Purchase a piggybank and fill it with a specific amount for each pound you lose. You can put it towards new clothes!

  • Find someone with whom to share the experience and laugh your way through the difficult times.

  • Study the methods of other successful slimmers. Read about other people's experiences, join a club, find a chat room, or create your own email group.
